Alternator problem

Hi all,

I need some help. The alternator light came on in my dashboard. From what I read on other threads, it is most likely the voltage regulator that needs to be replaced. Anyone know if I can remove it without taking out the alternator? There is a black cover towards the back of the alternator, which I believe the voltage regulator is. Anyone else have this cover?

nvm got a new one.. the screws broke and i couldnt take it out with my tools
