HOWTO: Reset Service Light


Move start switch into position "2"
Within the first 4 seconds after moving the start switch into position "2", press the reset button for trip counter twice within one second.

The display for the service request is thus activated for 10 seconds.

Within these 10 seconds move the start switch into position "O". The service request continues to be displayed.

Press and hold reset button for trip counter.

Move start switch into position "2".

Continue to hold reset button for trip counter (about 10 seconds) until the signal sounds and the new start distance appears in the display. Cheers.

Man, this HOW-TO has been on the board like 1000 times!

Besides, read the Owner's Manual. It's already there.

Actually, you are enabling people to post, repost, and repost things already covered on the site. It wastes time, space, and clutters the board with misinformation.

I would think a Member like yourself (been on this board long enough) would know better.

I just changed the oil on my wife's '99 c230 last weekend, and was easily able to reset the service indicator. What I couldn't figure out was what the '+' and '-' keys do. I didn't get a manual with this one when I bought it for her last year and I almost never drive it, so every time I get in it I notice little things I have yet to figure out. Anybody want to fill me in?

+ & - are to set your clock.

I used the 'h' and 'm' buttons on the right near the clock to do that. These '+' and '-' buttons are with the '0' button on the left I used to reset the service indicator.

The " +&_" change the brightness of the dash, climate control, and radio lights.
