Due to the fact that I've got not enough money for HID and real xenon, I'm wondering to install 100W instead of standard 55W. Mine is a post '97 W202 with, if I'm not wrong H7 bulb.

Is it possible without modification or is better to install a new relè with dedicated wire section and relevant fuse?

Please do you think that headlamp plastic or glass may deteriorate in advance?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi

PS: I've also tested led light for front sidelights, any chance to avoid with some resistance the internal "bulb failure"?

Yes, it is better to run higher wattage bulbs using a relay.

The lense is made out of glass, you might notice it getting a little warmer to the touch but nothing to be alarmed about.

To defeat the bulb failure put a 1w 1ohm resistor in line and that will give the resistance the car is looking for.

Thanks Nokia 8860-

So I can install the relè and pass a bigger section cable from the battery or fuse box.

Please a clarification resistor will have 1W or 1 ohm?

thanks again

You can get the power from the fuse box. Just pick and empty slot to use.

The resistor is a 1 ohm 1 watt. Not either a 1ohm or a 1 watt. When going to the local electronic store just ask them for this or if you have to look at packages just make sure it says that on the package.

Make sure you stay away from the cheaper copper ones as the heat in the engine will change the resistance of it. Buy a good quality resistor.
