just went out to move my car so I could park my sisters in the garage and I noticed a small wet area where the car was parked, I moved my car to this parking lot near by and went to get into my sisters, when I moved my car again it left a stain on ground again, I touched it and it smelled like gas, I parked my car and noticed it was dropping gas by back right wheel, almost in the middle of the back wheels

any idea?

Check out your fuel filter. It's located right where you are describing.

OK, I just had the same problem. I got under the car as far as I could (my C36 is the Euro spec very low...not like the USA spec high-riders...LOL!), and determined the raw fuel was coming from either:

1. The fuel pump.
2. The pump output fuel hose.

The leak was so bad, I did not dare drive the car for a few days. I then started it, to see if it would be feasible to drive it to a place of repair (my work-shed is some 15 km away). It leaked quite badly for a minute or so and then the leak reduced markedly.

I drove it to my shed and examined the offending parts. They were completely dry and there was nothing I could do to re-induce a gas leak! So I cannot pinpoint where the leak was coming from or which component is faulty!

I bought a replacement fuel pump in anticipation anyway. Now I have been waiting 4 weeks for this problem to re-occur. So far it is dry as a bone! So I am sitting here looking at an expensive fuel pump scratching my head?

If it happened when your tank was fairly full and disappears when the tank is not so full, then you need to check the common items for rot like the tubing for the filler neck, vent, overflow system, etc.

Thanks!

OK, I'll keep an eye on that. But so far the leak was only coming from the specific area of the fuel pump outlet, and only while the engine was running.

I took it to the shop, he said it was the line(hose)

$70 sounds about right for fuel line replacement. The fuel line and two hose clamps are cheap. The bulk of the cost is for labour (say 30 minutes).

The important thing is to identify the ID of your line and also make sure that you use high pressure fuel line.

On the C36 the ID is 7.5mm and part number is 916030000527. I only need 105mm (about 4 inches) from pump to filter. The hose is sold by the metre at $5.87 per/m.

Other models have different part number and ID hoses...this is the C280:

You can poke around this Russian Parts site. It shows diagrams, part numbers etc.

You'll have to start by clicking Cars, then model, etc.
