I did the transmission fluid change plus filter, gasket and magnet yesterday. It seemed to go pretty well and probably was not really necessary but at least I have some piece of mind that the fluid is in good shape after 9 years.
One problem I had was trying to check the fluid level at 80c. I could not get the temp up that high. I drove for miles on the side road, outer roads and finally on the interstate. I even put it into 4th so it would rev higher. The outside temp was around 80F. The car was warmed up but the best I could get from my infrared thermometer was 75-76C. I hope there isn't much difference in how the fluid expands during the 4C difference (it is amazing to see how much it expands from cold).
Tip to others checking the fluid - make sure to just bottom out the dipstick while putting it into the tube. You can easily push it beyond this to the point it flattens/lays down and then will give you an incorrect reading. I don't know why they don't make it like an oil dipstick where it fits into the tube to give you just the right length!
