I was noticing the ultra smoothness of my friends volvo... tight and smooth over bumps and imperfections ..and I was wondering what makes his setup so slick

I've got a 2004 S40 LSE. Nice little sport edition. But it is most certainly much stiffer on the bumps than my 220. My wife complains about how much nicer the bumps are in my car.

I know that 60 is built on the 40 platform in the newer than 04 models. So it's probably more like a step to the next model higher from the C class. And it may not be a sport suspension.

I found my C230K quite hard over the bumps tbh.. with stock alloys and pirellis.. new OEM every thing in the running gear department apart from shocks

any my new car which has just about every thing broken in that department with 18" alloys and low pro's is hard as hell some clonking rough riding business!!! :o

Thats why I am asking .. I want to find a nice balance of comfort and stiffness but greater life span then OEM

Only one way to go IMO... The C36 AMG stock suspension made by Bilstein, same one I got... Its definitely what you've been asking. To think, its sometimes a bit soft for my taste..! :D I run it on stock sport springs and 18s.
