I had a Motorola Star tac in mine which connected to the "SOS/On Star" type service button built into the car. It was a rip for the service but the first year was free...
I think it was either a cdma or tdma phone and it had a cradle in the top middle compartment.

I get a kick sometimes and press the Red "Save Our Ship" button just to hear the message play...

In 1999, $1595 got you this smokin' analog phone and the CD changer with annoying optical interface. :) The phone could be bought separately, too, but I am not sure of the price. It looks like I wrote $600 next to it in my original brochure but that might have been for the 'CD changer only' entry that is right next to the 'phone only' entry.

Neither, they were AMPS phones, aka analog. CDMA is a digital standard, currently used by Sprint and Verizon. GSM is used by just about everyone else. Prior to GSM, AT&T used TDMA. After many years of warning, the analog networks are being completely shut down. Your TV is next!
