I took my 202 to Firestone this last weekend for an alignment/balance and rotation. When I picked up the car the guy there said the alignment was fine. The only thing is that the camber was out, but they could not adjust it because it is a mercedes and requires a special tool to adjust it. So I would have to take it to an MB dealer.

The reason I thought the the alignment was off was because the steering was slightly off and it would veer to the right as soon as I let the steering wheel go.
I wasn't sure if that was true or if anyone else had come across that?

If your car has loose, worn out, broken or anything but good suspension parts, an alignment is useless. Example my 202 front ball joints and center link are very worn out and have a lot of end play and when i went to NTB for new tires thay wanted to give me an alignment and i said no. because of my front end.

Your tires could also be causing a pull. Did they say anything about your tires after the balance/rotation? If your camber has been "out" long enough than you will see excessive wear on the inner or outer edges of your tires.

If your car is stock ride height and your camber is out then your alignment is not fine. I wouldn't know about the "special" tool but I can say that I've had my car aligned at places other than the dealer.

I would recommend you take your car to an alignment/suspension specialist...or the dealer if your into spending lots of money.

I don't know if it will help with 20"s but you should look into a camber kit. K-Mac makes kits for W202s.

I've got the stock wheels and tires on. Theperson I bought the car from last year put brand new michelins, but there doesn't seeom to be excessive wear. I've go somewhere else for a second opinion.

the special tool they are referring to is just a eccentric bolt which replaces the standard bolt in the control arms. however they are only used for minimal adjustments...if your camber is way out, then something is worn. easy way is go to the dealer and buy the bolt kit for each side and then go back to your alignment place and have them install it and then perform the alignment again.

Thanks. That sounds like a much better solution. Do you know what the part number is by any chance?
