You could try replacing the whole instrument cluster with one from a C43 at a breakers. That's if the wiring and gauges match i.e. prepre (square buttons), pre (rounded buttons) or post facelift (rounded buttons) car - pre and post should be an easy swap and then you have the cost of getting it coded at your local MB dealership.

C280 sport dial is different C43. I tired... some parts light up differently.... crazy german.... wasted engineering on two different dials on same chassis.

You have to think about the CAN-Bus. Some of the later cars have it and some dont. The plugs are the same but it still wont work. If you get one of the clusters from an E class I think. It will show MPG and other cool stuff. MBenzNL does the conversions. I tried just a cluster in my sisters C280 and it worked, it was pretty cool.

also the milage on the clocks you fit from breakers will be your new milage as this can not be reset

best to strip out c43 clocks and remove face of it and place in yours but be warned not an easy job

w202 started in 1993 and finished in 2000 but they were face lifted in 1997 so that is why the w202 sports has white clocks

the pre 1997 had a sport clock too but it just had a higher top speed and slight different surround in grey not black

You could take the dials apart and transplant the clocks if you're really careful and have alot of patience.

but keep the stock clocks as they are better left alone unless you get them from mb dealer and set the correct km

I have purchased from whitegauges.net. The overlays line up pretty well, and look good. I had to use the 99-00 C230 overlays as there is no post update set for the C280. The only difference is the redline on the tach overlay, but I can live with that.

Whitegauges.net 99-00 C230 white overlay (http://www.whitegauges.net/categories/White-Face-Gauges/Mercedes/C230/1999%252d2000/)
