I have a 99 C280 and I need to replace the crank sensor. I did enough research on the forum to identify it as a carnk sensor issue. What I need is some instruction on how to relpace this myself. I have no idea where to begin in order to loacte and replace. Thank you to anyone who can offer some help.

Iv never replaced the crank sensor on a C280 but its safe to assume its the same on the M111.

If your facing the engine it should be located on the right side of the engine where the block meets the transmission(under the rear of the intake manifold)

How did you detemine that was the fault?

The car would start up fine and run but as soon as I turn off the engine, it will not start up. The engine will cank as if it had no battery power to make it turn over. After the car cools down..it will start right up and then do the same thing all over again.

So once its hot and you turn it off it will crank fine but not start?...If so it could well be your CPS based on others similar problems here!...as far as replacing it it will be retained by one bolt,or hex key etc,it will then pull striaght out....goodluck! =)

When my crank sensor went, the car wouldn't start at all, would turn over but wouldn't start. Once it was replaced it started right up
