Hello

I have a problem. My Left fog light was not working so I decided to investigate. Turns out my fog light cover was missing and the wiring had gotten all dirty and wet. The H1 bulb melted and fused itself into the H1 socket.

So basically I am looking for either the Hella socket with wires (dont think they sell it) or looking to buy a aftermarket socket and splicing it into the foglight wiring. I have looked online for aftermarket sockets and the only ones that I can find have one wire going from the socket, the stock socket has 2 wires one is red the other is gray. Do i need a socket with 2 wires?

Also can i buy a hella fog light cover by itself?

Hopefully I dont have to buy a whole new foglight.

thanks!

that's wierd that the factory has 2 wires because on a H1 all you need is the power wire because the base of the bulb grounds to the headlight assembly giving your common ground. my guess would be they ground it through the control module. if you buy a H1 pigtail and splice in into the power wire of your harness and then just ground the other wire coming out of your harness....you should be all set. make sure in your headlight assembly where the bulb inserts into that there's a ground wire, and if not then you connect the ground from the car/foglight harness to the metal inside the headlight assembly so the bulb see's a ground when the switch is turned on.

confusing but i hope this helps and everything should work perfect without a indicator malfunction on the cluster!

Yeah its kind of weird that there is 2 wires. I ordered a h1 socket well see how it works, too bad I can just find a OEM h1 socket.

Now all i need to find is a fog light back cover.....

i decided to cancel my order for the aftermarket socket, i bit the bullet and bought a new fog light, it was 130 at the stealership ( the guy was nice enough to give me a 10 percent discount)

I found out you can buy a h1 socket separately from the dealership, but i needed a new fog cover anyways and they do not sell that by itself.

fogs work great now

thats too bad because you can get an updated harness from the dealer..there was a bulletin with the correct part numbers. most parts people don't know this because there aren't many older parts people around any more that would remember. as far as the cover. i would get one from a junk yard. a whole new light def. isn't worth it. wish i read your post earlier.
