Happy New Year Everyone,

I have a '99 C230k Sport with the Bose factory system and the fiber-optic cable CD changer. I'm starting to have issues with the factory head unit.

Is there an aftermarket head unit I can buy that will still control my 6-disk CD changer in the trunk? The wife usually drives it and she loves the changer.

Thanx,
Jay

i know your trying to keep a changer in this car but step up to something new. your changer doesnt do mp3 the deck is still a tape player and it not capable of any type of aux input. most in dash units will do ipod, mp3 players , hd radio, sat radio etc etc. get rid of the deck and changer and replace it. most maufactures dont even make changers any more . and if you do find a changer there usually made for the europeon market. or there used and have issues. take if from a guy who has done car audio install over 13 years. a new deck gives you the ability to record mp3 on a cd-r disc and put over 100 songs and can be control via folders on a deck. a basic deck like a alpine alpcde7894 goes for about 129.00 and will do most of the things listed except hd radio with out a changer. just go look and see what there is to offer and go from there :)
here is a suggestion sell the factory changer and the money you make buy a nice head unit

Logic,

That makes sense. While searching through the forum, I saw that a lot of guys installed the Harmon Kardon Traffic Pro which is no longer sold.

I guess if I want to keep the Bose stuff, I need to get a VW pigtail harness, and the Metra splitter(?) or whatever it is and it should work properly.

I don't like paying others for something I can do myself.

I just need to find a good HU that the wife and I can live with that is easy to use.

Get a Nakamichi MB-VI. Nakamichi Flyer (http://www.nakamichi.com/pdf/Naka%20-%20MBVI%20FA.pdf)

6 disc in-dash with lights that match dashboard and looks kinda OEM. :)

I like mine. Gives you options to upgrade stereo (subs, amp, etc etc.)
