i just got my clutch back from our local clutch shop, had to upgrade to try and get some power down,
i got my standard pressure plate rebuilt with heavier springs which gives alot higher clamping pressure,
they custom built me a full face full kevlar clutch disc,
this is a solid disc, but with kevlar should give nice smooth engagement for street driving but also hold power,
and they ground my light weight solid flywheel for me also,
i had a weigh up also,
my old standard setup with dual mass flywheel weighed about 25-27kg, and this is about 17kg
here are the pics:

BE VERY CAREFUL to break that kevlar clutch in properly. If you break it in properly it will last almost forever, if you don't it will basically be junk so make sure to give it at least a few hundred miles if not 1000+ of real city driving under low power to get the clutch to "bite". Thats the one downside to kevlar, if you don't break it in properly its basically toast.
Amazing work! :)
Awsum man:cool:
ahh blatant spec knock off!!!!:D ...im gutted as tho yours cost not only half the price, but is probably painted better as well:rolleyes:
Flywheel grind looks good!.
did they do they balance in house or give it to bob?
Hmmm whats the dif with the two types of kevlar face we have?...mines a composite i think(resin of sorts)...where as yours looks almost all kevlar 0o
Looks really good, you must almost have the engine back in now?

paul im not sure if they balanced it or not, i didnt really get any feedback fromthem, they just sent it back with break in instructions.
im sure its all kevlar!
good to see u didnt mind the copycat blue haha
All good!

um well it ant that hard to put gearbox in afterwards, it would have been easier first, but i didnt have clutch and was itching to do something at the time.
engine tuning:eek: wots that?
haha nah i like doing as much myself as possible, in my head at present the order goes like this,
get it going first make sure engine is mint
i already have the larger injectors in it,
these will be easily safe rich in the mean time,
il only run low boost (6pound) til i get time and my friend gets time to help me wire in the more advance injector and ignition(hopefully) control, and also put in a map sensor,
then il run more boost and go to a dyno.
realistically the dyno step is probebly 3-6 months away.
altho it goes damn good at 6pounds, and that was when it was going a bit lean.
theres more than 10 people in palmy :-) whats glens last name and what does he do/work?
cya jafa :D
doh missed your reply
haha swt as sounds like a plan though to rich is bad too right?
LOL jafa, that always gets me going^^...technically....no!!!=P
Hmmm he was prolly just talking out his a**e as we had downed a few, only know his first name, does motor bikes, works for Fontera as a sparky/technician i think...was at new year with us said he knew a Logan from palmy but lol as probly someone else^^
gearbox must be in by now 0o =)

now youve got me thinking, hmm do i know a glen?hmm
yea you are correct to rich can also cause problems, like wash/glaze the bore, but i wont be going that rich,
i will use my wideband to dial it in to around 11.5-12.5:1 but it will be safe rich compared to the leaning out to around 14:1 under boost i used to have:eek:
i just randomly remembered that jafa call and ur the only person i talk to often from auckland, so boi-ya u get it. haha :-)
well about that gearbox, i havent got it in yet, i put flywheel in and got the engine wired in an basically got the adjustable fuel pressure regulator in. but i have been busy doing hay why the sun shines, literally tho.
my friend who is doing the rotary w202    needed a pedal box and rung up a auckland wrecker and they had one but they would only sell as a conversion kit with the manual gearbox which he doesnt need, and so i said i will buy it for $450 as my gearbox sometimes jumps gears, so thatl be here in a week and il put that in instead,
i was originally just gona stick my original one back in, cos it ant really that bad, but aparantly this new one is pritty mint so that can be my next abuse candidate.
woha one day it will go again
Said he hadn't seen you in a couple of years...could be anyone i guess^^
All good,so you picked up another M104 gearbox just like that? 0o
...Man you must give it a hard time haha.
do you get some drivetrain noise with that direct drive clutch?
Think the guys at that clutch place were talking about someone making a rotor powered merc, possibly your mates one...will be interesting to see how it goes!...already know it will sound like arse.^^

i know a glen, used to go to my school, but thought he moved to wellington, but meh, enough said about that fello.
i just rung up my friend to confirm and he said it is out of a c220,
and i looked up on a online parts catalogue, and just got confused, i think the input shaft may be a slightly different size, i think the housings are the same,
im gona ring up my local dealer and ask him to check it out for me tomorow, before i tell i can definatly buy it.
dont really get any drive train noise, but you can certainly feel shes solid :D
yea it will sound like shite, i give him shit, thats why i got larger injectors, to run more boost to make sure i beat him, we will be racing each other heaps, and hopefully go to manifeild etc.
its not a compitition, but il be winning ;) haha
Hahaha would be a sad day a rotor 202 beats the turbo 6...no pressure or anything :p
...not a competition......haaha:D
From the pics i saw of your gearbox i thought the 4 cylinder looked quite different 0o...I could be seeing things though thats not uncommon;)
