i read this in another forum and was wondering if this works with are cars . i guess it resets the throttle.....
1: turn key to "on" (not to "start," you do not want it running)
2: push pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there
3: wait 5 seconds
4: turn key to "off" while still holding pedal
5: release pedal, wait approx 2 minutes

i dont want to try it until i confirm it with some one here....

but how would this adjust throttle? faster/slower response?

from what i read it resets it like it was new
here is what it says:

MB' suffer from throttle non linearity after a few days of normal driving.
This can be reset by "turning key to ON, pressing throttle to floor, wait 5 secs, turn key OFF, release pedal, wait 2 minutes.
Car feels like a new car again due to throttle coming in early. This unit saves having to do this by keeping throttle linear all the time. Great idea..

I just want to apologize now for any grammer and spelling erros but you know somtimes i wonder if people write shit up stright out of there a$$. Like honestly, this isn't even in the user man. and unless your a merc tech or the engineer who built the car how do you find this information out. Please tell me theres not someone just playing with the keys and gear shift. Like ok i understand the FSS counter reset and all the shit involed JUST TO RESET IT! But like when i did a tranny rest doing it the "ghetto way" not passing a certain rpm and shifting up and doing it 4 times i thought i noticed a difference, but i think its f'ing mind tricks

I agree, the easiest way to reset a adaptive tranny is to disconnect the battery for a few and then reconnect it.

like thats the thing too....how much of a voltage drop does it take to kill the memory on that thing....I remember one day i pressed the Panic button and then disconnected the battery....THAT FUCKER STILL STAYED ON! after a while it died down and just became a werid noise

My tech told me this resets the throttle sensor or something of the sorts...some people actually thinks this resets the ECU which is nonsense

From what I have read, it resets the "adaption values" which are variable values stored in the ECU and use by the ECU to modify the driving experience based upon driving styles (e.g. jackrabbit driver vs. Grandpa) and environmental variables (high altitude, temps, etc.).

Is this applicable to all w202?

I think this is only applicable to post updated W202 (98+ model year)

I tried this in my 97 and I did not notice any difference in throttle response after ECU reset

my car has a cable throttle, not drive by wire.

i did this earlier and now i feel like im driving a formula 1 car...haha, i cant tell a damn difference...if anything its a mental thing if you think there is a difference, kinda like a k&n filter...

I put a K&N filter in and the idle RPM dropped just a little, and became slightly smoother. Like my car was breathing a bit better.

I noticed nothing with my k&n, but u have a 280, every engine is different...but as far as reseting the throttle, nothing...

Dude i don't thinking thats 100% true....because when i installed my k&n i didn't notice jack shit...and if you live in a or around a dirt road i'd take that fawker off asap...and if i'm not mistake..you really have to do like "hardcore" mods otherwize the computer recalculates and comps shit. I THINK WE NEED TO ADD A NEW THREAD....CALL "MYTH BUSTERS 202 STYLE"

I agree, k&n didn't do anything for me, so I took it out cause I didn't want to risk getting oil on the MAF, I have a drop in fram and it works fine...I think another section would be cool to, a mythbusters type of thing, talk about this sprint booster, seafoam, k&n, reseting the throttle, descreening the maf, and all of the other shit that people think of...maybe ill start up one saying how I put rocket fuel in my tank and now my car does 0-60 in the 6's...hahaha

ok so basically this proceedure doesn't do anything from what i m reading? its funny i ask a question about something and it ends up about a k&n filter... by the way i use a k&n filter with my intake and have no issues. it does allow more air flow then a paper filter and if the filter is maintained correctly there should be no issue as far as oil on the maf .

Like I've put 120 jet fuel in my car....didn't do shit! It started pretty werid and bogged for a few. I also put 106 octane didn't do much, I put nitrous it sprayed to heavy and froze the whole intake down from the intercooler all the way to the t body and f we alot of shit up including my maf, and if you have a c230 k that oil is from that stupid emissions shit connected to the air box. I made a cold air intake that sat to low to the flow it sucked the water up 1 day and bent the rods also blew out my starter. I did a maf relocation I don't see how it helps! If you put your car in netural and rev it without relocating the maf it still kicks in around 1.5k. I've already learned my lesson about descreening becuase I was doing an injection cleaning and the straw sucked right in. I tried doing ghetto tranny resets, and u always have to asumme you did it right. And you know what I regret everything I've done because the time and money put in modding doesn't even compair to how much it cost to fix somthing. As for my c230k no more shit it going to be added. I just want to fix up all her little flaws, and wait for her to pass. That way I can save and put a good down payment on a house and get like decent pos car.

damn cru you have done it all LOL .....as for me everything i have done hasn't done anything beside do what it suppose to do. i did the intake for sound and better intake. and if i got a few pony's out of it then cool. the exhaust the same way it allow for better flow with better sound. i didnt go extreme since like they say when you increase horsepower you decrease the life of the engine.

Sry to of jacked the thread, but no the reset did nothing for me...and as far as mods go I think ill stick with the shit that keeps this relic running, like a new water pump, tranny service, and oil change that I'm over do on...

I have a 280 and didn't feel any or see any difference with my K&N
