Hey guys I have been a member on this forum for about a year now and have been dappling in and out to see what you guys do you to your cars and get some suggestions on what upgrades are sensible to perform. Well I have finally gotten to the point where I really want more power under my hood. Keep in mind I drive a 97 c230 straight baseline (bought the car from a cheap-ass family friend). So I realize increasing the power on this engine would cost me a great deal so I was wondering if there was an engine I could swap in that I would be more satisfied with and wouldn't drive me nuts installing. Thanks very much for your input!

It would be a headache. So many factors to swap anything into a 230. Your best bet would be a supercharger or turbo

Really? But if I go the forced induction route I would have to change the whole bottom end and that seems more costly

this isnt true, you would ba able to make a turbo setup to increase power by about 100hp without doing anything to the bottom end, maby even a supercharger, that they put on the c230k's

Well how much would the turbo setup cost me? I know its gotta be mostly custom since no one likes to make parts for our cars

well what did you pay for your c230? since cars prices are really low nowadays i would sell your c230 and maybe buy a c230 kompressor. you can find them as low as 7 k but if you really want to step it up c43 i seen goes as low as 10 k . a engine swap or even doing a turbo set up may be a option but realistically just trade up on your car . the engine swap isn't a effective way of doing it since you can accure charges over 3k . so use that and upgrade the car (imo)

Just upgrade the car, much more cost effect, fuel efficient and drivable.
