Yuck,

Kinda looks like its been melted or maybe has just gone brittle and cracked....you may be able to cut the wires further back, solder on legs and reterminate at the MAF plug.

Its not hard to do,but if you've never done that sort of thing just take it to an auto electrician.

how is the rest of the engine harness? more than likely you will need the entire harness. they decay over time and cause all sorts of intermittent problems.

benztec, you are absolutely right.

MAF wiring bundle was not the only problem. There were some disconnections and lot of cracks in the covering of the wires that connect en masse to 000 545 53 81. Instaed of rewiring the 140 540 00 81, I ordered it from ebay. It has four wires (not five as illustrated in diy project). Brown wire goes to ground. At the end this wire has #A202 440 79 05. Yellow with green stripe wire and yellow with white stripe wire go to part 000 545 53 81. Please note that I got these part numbers from my first hand information and I don't know their technical names. Fourth and last wire, blue with red stripe, goes to connector 011 545 85 28 (black dot), that connects with connector 009 545 14 28 (red dot). Now the wire (from connector 011 545 14 28) is totally burnt (and of course not connected in my car).

Then there is green plastic tube (black arrow) that is not connected to anything. In addition, I found another white plastic tube, not shown in graphics (runs with green plastic tube) that goes towards intake manifold and that was not connected to anything.

Here are my questions:
Where does this white plastic tube connect to?
Where does this green plastic tube connect to?
Where does this wire, coming from connector 011 545 85 28 (red arrow) connect to?

Nonetheless, it has become project for two weekends instead of one.

Please help me so that I don't have to tow it to stealership.

What year is your car? Is it 96 or older with the original wiring harness?

How does your air conditioning/heating system work in terms of changing between fresh air/recirculated air and the different flaps to control the air flow to feet, face, windshield, etc? That green tube looks like the one the supplies vacuum to the air distribution system in the dash. Just a guess though.

This is 95 c280
AC and heating working fine
I will update after I receive the parts this week.

Ok, than that tube might go to the tranny for vacuum since that is an older non-electronic tranny.
