dip down your headlights a bit?
blinding the opposite lane isn't the smartest idea! :)

Hence the scattering of the light.

You in CA? If so, might get harassed by the cops.

Florida, not as bad as CA or Jersey from what ive heard of from other people here, but still none the less the area i live in is a highly populated spot for retired people from the space center, with a ton of cops...but so far there hasnt been a problem, all i know is that these things light both sides of a 5 lane road

I got them from a custom auto store/installer here in town, they do like audio and video stuff...and I just called to see if they did hid kits, 250 installed...1 year warrenty on ballast and bulbs and lifetime on labor...well worth it

The install looks well done, but I would get projector housings, HIDs are kinda wasted if you don't. Also is the picture just making them appear blue or did you actually get blue ones installed? Blue HIDs can actually hurt the visibility because it messes with the colors of what you are illuminating.

that is kinda steep... i usually get mine for 70 bucks shipped and install em in about 30 mins... and have lifetime warranty on the ballasts...

Anyone know where to get hid housings? My car has a similar after market setup, and it just looks kinda trashy and blurred in the stock halogen housing. Also, the bright setting simply engages the upper fogs. Its really lame.

Apparently they sold replacement lenses at one point for hid/xenon. The glass and angles are all cut differently so the light is much cleaner and more pointed. I believe there's a thread on it here somewhere. The stock halogen lenses are meant to scatter the light up wind of the car. Xenon is much brighter and sharper. Hence, it looks way too bright in a stock halogen lens. Its like the difference between a spotlight shining directly at one point or a stadium light shining in one general direction.

I will attach a pic of mine too.

Dam thats a nice clean engine bay! But I'd advise getting projector headlights for em, it'll make it better for other drivers :)

agreed... but there are no nice looking projector headlights that i have seen so far... retrofitting is so expensive...

The OEM xenon lighting is more than just a different lens. The OEM xenon housing also uses a different reflector along with a different lens not to mention the wiring changes to accommodate the external ballast. The picture below shows how the light is manipulated by the reflector.

Due to the different reflector the headlight when not in use has a slightly "smoked" appearance.

Exactly. And finding a retrofit OEM kit will cost (literally) more than $1200. I'm not THAT desperate to have icy blue xenons. I'm 99% sure I'm going to go back to OEM halogen instead of the aftermarket HID that came with purchase of the car.
