Basicly what's going on was today I was driving around 50mph at about 2300 rpm, went to gas it and the engine started choking, like it had bad gas in it, I pushed further on the pedal and the rpm neddle slowly went down and so did my speed with this horrible hesitation, pulled over shut the car off, it restarted fine and I drove away...it did this again, at an even lower speed so I pulled into autozone and got a bottle of that water out of your fuel system crap, poured that in and filled up at chevron with 93...got on I95, got half way home and the POS did it again, in the middle of traffic, I had to put flashers on just to get to an area to pull over, did it about 15 more times, one time I got out of the car and listened and could hear the cat converter like a pulsating buzz, not normal...plugs are about 6k old and fuel filter is about 3k old, I'm leaning towards fuel pump but I really don't know..., it revs fine to about 2900 them once at 3-3500 it starts to choke and almost want to foul out, seems like its running wayyy to lean, I'm scared to even drive this thing anymore...any suggestions or ideas to test would be great..thanks

Nope, nothing...I've been searching on here since I posted that...its definitly going into some sort of limp mode after about 3-4 min of driving...won't let me take it past 3k...then pull over, restart and go another 3-4 min...this really irks me, any ideas on what would cause the cat converter to buzz like that if its some sort of misfiring or sputtering issue?

Maby the cat is broken on the inside and is restricting your exhaust so badly that this happens to you car.

I thought about that but wouldn't it make the noise as soon as I start the car, it only makes the buzzing when the rpm sputtering and dieing out happens, looks like I'm taking it to the dealer in the morn for there 2 cents and my 100diag fee cost

that would definitely throw a check engine light for a mis that bad.

Well its only a 4 cyl, but I got what u ment, I'm guessing either a MAS or a fuel pump issue, these cars are so frustrating, when any of u guys had a coil prob or a cyl misfire did your check engine light go on?

Took it to MB this morn, they called and said that everything looked great... except the fuel filter was on the wrong way, they wanted to sell me another fuel filter which I got for 50 but they wanted 110 to install it, so I laughed and walked on that, the thing was definitly on backwards when I put it on, but when i blew into the old one it was free flowing both ways, but it seemed to drive fine to school, and I took it thru all the revs, but it only acts up after about 5-10, and where I needed to be wasn't far from the shop...so I might just drive around after school to see if it acts up some more, I pray not

u laughed at them but u can't figure out whats wrong either and they pointed out the obvious as someones hack install of a filter. so how do you plan on getting it fixed. 110 is a steal for the install of a filter at an mb dealer. if you had said yes and the problem still existed you probably could have got your money back but you were too quick to laugh. i'll never understand the non-technical people on here who want help but don't want to spend a dime on having someone do it for them....

Don't all MB fuel filters have a direction arrow stamped on them?

theres a sensor, i forget the name. it happenend in my E320. it has something to do with the therostate??? i forget, what ever it was the car would run on when the engine was warm, couldnt get it started to get it warm.... so i was SOL lol
i have also heard stories from my tech where the same sensor in our W202's goes bad, but when the engine is warm and it would bog or shut the motor down for no reason. not sure if the check engine light goes off or not, you may need a Silver star computer for that ( mercedes computer that hacks in your computer directly with a bunch of prongs, it will should fault codes sometimes and not turn the check engine light on, just more acurate, its around $12k from meredes and you have to get it up dated every year)
