MY '96 c280 won't rev beyond 5500rpm when accelerating. This happens every time I try. It makes good power, but right at 5500rpm its like it hits some sort of rev limiter. Anyone have this before? MAF perhaps?

Do you have any codes/check engine light? Loss of power? Could be the MAF or the beginnings of its failure or something else.

no codes or CEL....werid...
hows the idle on it?
Try putting it in netural and gas it and see if it goes over....
Listen to see if it bogs or misfires...or just won't go over.
check the fluids on the trans...you're have to goto the stealership..unless you have the "tool"
This can range from anything from your timing chain to friggin MAF..even the stupied T-body and linkage lol
Honestly save your time..take it to the dealership have them slap SDS on there...and it will tell you whats wrong with it (hopefully). It will normally cost you around $100 - 140 depending on your dealerships rates. Once you know whats wrong fix it yourself...unless its a really big job.
I think someone should make a sticky post somewhere on a "diagnostic diy check list"
MAF
T-Body
Fuel Pressure
Spark Plugs
etc etc...
I mean shit, i think everyone here had atleast one problem of the list of anything that can or will go wrong...

ABS light on. Also check engine light has been on. Had it read yesterday. P0500. Vehicle speed sensor A. That's the only code that showed. I take it that the speed sensor A is one of my ABS sensors? How does that affect the revving of the motor? Doesn't really make sense.
