i been looking for a OBD II scan tool, for a while and have seen a couple that work on most cars except the older OBD I . it also does euro cars too. my question is have any of you guys have one and if so does it work on our cars well, plus this will used and work too . i dont wanna get a ethos snap on type which cost like 1800 bucks . i wanna get a decent one and have seen some for about 300 bucks. what kind do you have and if so would you suggest buying ?

ok i found a innova 3160 which does everything i was looking for and saw these at sears.(the funny thing blue point offers a 3160 which is the same as innova for 428.00 hmmmm) so being my birthday is sunday the wifey was going to buy this for me. well just my luck sears discontinued selling them at the store level and when we returned there was no more and are only special order. they had some craftsmans versions but were a little more. well looking at some of craftsmans i found one mark 259.99 for model 20899 which has OBD1 and OBD2 plus emissions, resets check engine lights, enhanced DTCs , 29 manufacturers , CAL ID/CVN#, freeze frame etc etc. but tag price was 299.99 . well i asked the sales person on this and he said he will honor the price plus my mom's discount i got it for 252.72 after taxes . it does all 96 and up OBD2 including CAN and will do older ford, toyota, lexus, gm , chysler, 74 and up in some years to 95 in some cases. it is upgradable via PC and comes with a 2 year warrenty so we will see how this works out.
the ones from harbor frieght looked a little cheap for what i was going for since i will be using this for work to but did look at these before......
thx for the info tho

I have the scangaugeII. Its fairly basic but if you leave it hooked up it measures the mpg, vlt, mph, coolant temp, rpm and others. a good buy for around $150.

for about $500 shipped, you can get the SDS system from China(you provide the IBM T30 laptop). there are about a dozen or more companies in Canton/ HK area that sell and provide tech support for OEM diagnostic systems. where do you tnink all those $3000 Ebay SDS's come from?
