Guys,

I need help with wiring the OEM CD Changer.
I open the left side of the trunk carpeting and found the wire that goes to the changer. but the wire is short, orange color, and does not connect to the anything else. Where can I hook this up?

Maybe Steve can help?

You talking about the fiber optic bit with the two LED looking things on the end? I thought that there's a place for it under a green plug at the bottom of the CD changer.

Although, given that you are the ICE master...I'm wondering if the situation isn't as simple as I think it is.

When I open the left carpetting, I found two wires that is together:
- wire with 1 optic end and red/green end
- wire with 3 connectors for the power i believe.

I know the connection goes to the CD changer, but the wire is about 1 meter long, does not connect to anything else.

I will post a picture tonight.'

The top part connect to the CD changer. The bottom part, not sure where it should connect :(

Any Idea?

If you look a little higher up in the wheel well you will find more fiber...for the phone and tele aid...the fiber for the CD changer can simply be added to that active ring...it is as easy as can be - just make sure you keep a closed ring after you are done.

I took this picture:

Where is the active ring located at?
Do you have a picture of the active ring?

btw, I think the orange cable on the bottom of the last picture is the one for the phone. I can't find any cables that has the same type of connectors :(

If you look at the loop you pictured...there is a connector at the bottom similar to the 1 on the CD changer fiber...just click the fiber on there looking at the tags to see what goes "in" and what goes "out"...

yep its just one long old ring that crazy fiber optics. if you need some wire i have some length left from when i did my changer install.

i didnt realize you order via foot and ordered one too short and the one steve got me was just right.

How do I click on the ring?

I guess I just don't get this whole thing :(

Joey, you got a picture of your changer installed? I mean wiring wise?

The fiber optic is like a token ring so that black connection you have pictured

http://gilbreth.ecn.purdue.edu/~nkumala/pnsji/1/morecables.jpg

Unclip that, as that is where you will connect the other ends of the fiber optic connector from the changer. that will add the changer to the fiber optic loop.

Im at work right now so cant do the picure thing till later. but i will come back to the thread later to try to help out more.

From what i remember i think you have to lift that metal tab and that will release to too halfs to come apart then you will see (they only fit one way) how the ends of the cd changer wires attach to the clip you just have seperated.

hehe...just a tad diferent then the average MB partscounter dude...

Susanto, just lift up one of the metal tabs from the outside...pull the fiberlead out...insert the fiberlead of the CD changer (either the end with the red tab or the clear tab - whatever you pulled out)...close the metal tab again and use that other similar connector on the CD changer's fiber to connect to the fiber you puled out of the connector of the incar fiber...explaining how to took me longer then it should take you to reconnect everything...
