My engine code po300 turned out to be due to a cracked body on my coil sitting above spark plug #2. The computer never gave me a PO302 code...just the general PO300 misfire code.
When I put an ohmeter on the primary side of the coil (where the 12 volt input signal goes), I get about 2.2 ohms on a 0 to 200 ohm scale. The output is suppose to be about 4 to 8 on a 200k ohm scale and I get infinity...an open circuit.
The black body of the coil is noticeably cracked on both sides along its length. The inline 6 engine is just so freakin hot especially towards the front end of the engine...the heat just kills things like head gaskets, wire insulation, spark plug wires and now coils.
I put new spark plugs in and ran the car for about 30 minutes. It was in the limp mode. Plugs 1, 3, 4 & 6 were black fouled lightly. Plugs on #2 & 5 looked brand new...they never fired...just got bathed in fuel.
