Hello, i have a 2000 c23k and i am currently having issues with it. It cranks but does not stay on. I have done some research here and they all seem to point to the crank position sensor. I just wanted to make sure that this may be the cause (already spent $250 on fuel pump that i did not need). Also before the car stopped running, i did notice it running at high rpms, may this be related to the sensor? Thanks in advance and i really appreciate all the info. on the forums. thanks again

first things first.. try unplugging your MAS.. and then see if your car starts and runs.
it is possible it can be the crank sensor as well.. but with the rpm thing you mentioned I'd try unplugging the MAS first.
if your car runs and drives with the MAS unplugged.. me thinks thats the culprit!

Tried that, ran for a very short time, but after that it did not stay on anymore. I couldn't get it to start anymore.

check the resistance of your crank sensor.. anything over 950ohms is considered bad.. but doesn't necessarily mean its faulty.

I would still tend to think MAF as SlammedC suggested.

Find someone with a known good one and switch it over (takes 10 minutes).

Well it wasn't the crank position sensor. I guess im gonna but the mass air sensor since i dont know of anyone with the sensor. I was told that if it wasn't the mass air flow sensor, then it could be my ecu. I hope its the maf.

did you measure the crank sensor? what resistance did you have? below 950 ohms?
I think you can just buy the MAS sensor insert from Bosch directly.. cheaper then the dealer charges for the entire MAS.

If you go the Air Mass Sensor (MAF) route, you can buy the part for $170 and fit it yourself in 10 minutes. The part for your car is listed as 0280217114 , but you should check the actual number on your MAF just to be sure.

What should the pressure be for the fuel pump? The one i received is 58 psi, and was told that is a little above normal is that true?
