My boss at work has just told me about a little thing he uses on his '96 Suburban to monitor his ECU et al. Apparently there's like a $25 dongle that connects to your OBDII port and connects to any Android phone via bluetooth. There's an app you buy on the Market for like $5. With this setup he says he can not only read stored/temp CEL codes, but can also monitor levels/performance/etc while the engine is running!

I know every w202 in the US has OBDII, I'm very anxious to try this. But I don't want to bother with it if it won't work.

Has anyone heard of this or tried this? This could be revolutionary for w202 DIY'ers!

For closure:

Bought the tool, bought the app. Bottom line: it absolutely works 100%! Can help you grow leaps and bounds to understanding what's going on with your car!

http://www.amazon.com/XITECH-BLUETOOTH-DIAGNOSTIC-SCANNER-SCANTOOL/dp/B003MQ89X4 is the bluetooth scanner.

The app is available on android and iphone. I think it might be available for blackberry as well. It's an app called "Torque" and costs $5 on android. It even builds complete logs of all your cars stats and lets you pick and choose which to monitor. It will then email you these logs at the end of each trip you take! It's genius.
