Ok ok ok ;) Im going to attempt a 5.4L with the 6-speed,theres alot to swap from other amg models and the shifter will be tricky, however at least its already set up for manual.
Gearbox is on its way, just organising the engine and extra parts(nearly a whole car) at the moment.

Is the 5.4 L from 113 engine? NA or Kompressor?
Where does the 6-speed come from? I am not aware of any AMG with 6 speed manual.

Yip,the amg 5.4 113 NA engine,i think trying to run the Kompressor version with the 6-speed would be suicide^^

This 6-speed is found in the C320 C240 SLK320 SLK350 M112 manual versions. THe M113 has the same bell housing so it will bolt up.

your right, there is no amg manual.

What year is your W202? And what kind of car is the engine donor?
If you go with W210 E55 or W208 CLK55, and your car is model update year (98-2000), the wiring harness should match.

Mines an update 97,so yes it has all the right electrical system(ME),the donor is a CLK55 as it has the right parts like exhaust manifolds, rear subframe, axles etc,I will hopefully use a W209 55 diff with W208 55 rear cover to get the 3.06 ratio and fitment however i will need to change the asr modual i think;)

Sounds like a very good/difficult project. Are you doing the labor yourself? Do keep up posted.

I think with a project like this the only option is to do it yourself!
Theres alot of unknowns still, like how interchangable the propeller flanges are onto the gearbox/diff shafts, and also propeller length. Looks like i will be able to have the ECU recoded to get ride of the auto problems.
The time consuming part will be finding all the bits that are required for the V8,like A/C comp/condenser,radiator,starter,engine bay heat shields..piping etc etc the list i have is massive!,I will update as things progress!.
In some ways it might have been easier to start with a C43 however thats expensive and the 202 i have now would be far more tidy than any C43 id be able to find.

Cheers

pagz,

it sounds like you have done your research into this project. i currently have a 95 c220 and would like to do the engine swap. however i do plan on using the engine transmission and differential from the doner car. my plan is to get a wrecked car in order to be able to use all the parts i need for the swap to work. the only thing im worried about is the differential. is the cover the only thing that causes it to not fit correctly? or does the floor pan still need to be modified? what if my car doesnt have any type of traction control, will installing the new ecu and differential and everything provide a traction control?

Not sure about the 220 diff, its alot bigger so i wouldnt be suprised if the floor pan needs modifying as mentioned about the 202 C55 in wiki.
The diff is the easy bit, theres alot more than just the engine trans and diff to change...its nearly the whole car depending on what conversion you do(think A/C system and plumbing to firewall, radiator and plumbling, shrouds and heat shields etc etc ,my list is massive.
So if you get a donor make sure it has side or mild rear damage.

i agree that the list of parts will be massive. ive contemplated just buying a newer car with the 5.0L or the 5.4L AMG but i really like my 202 so im going to attempt the engine swap. ideally the car will have rear or side damage like you stated, or maybe even a flood car or something. i dont care about the interior... lol

since my car doesnt currently have the smart key ignition, do you think i will have issues swapping in the m113 engine, engine harness, and ecu? im really hoping i can make this swap work because i dont want to use an m119.

I would avoid flood damaged as you will want the security modual and keys with the ECU + the enigne may be full of water along with everything electronic(security and ecu need to be together to start the engine, alternatively you need a new security programmed to the ECU.) So in short it would be harder to put an M113 in your non-updated 202 than an updated one. why not just buy a C43???
Can you even fit the M119?? sounds like even more of a mission.

You sure than tranny is strong enough? I hear its very weak. A good set up would be using the getrag dogleg trans from a 2.3-16 but to bad they don't share the same bell housing pattern.

Why not a 16v rear diff? Its 3.27 and its an LSD. Your stock w202 diff housing should be a w124 part number. You would have to change the rear cover and bobs your uncle

Yes apparently its not strong enough and it may fail earily...but neither was my original 5 speed and it didnt blow up with with the turbo setup which would have made similar power,I think its got alot to do with how you drive it.

Yes could use the 124 lsd but i dont want clutch packs,so if i can use the 220 i may eventually fit a quafe.

You could try spring blocks on the diff?

Prefer torque biasing over rubbing metal!
