It has been a productive couple of days. Last night I installed a set of H&R springs. Oh yes, the car has #2 pads all around. Since it is a 94 I think I can only go up one more pad size in the rear so that will be happening shortly as it is sitting a bit lower than I would like.

Thanks for the comments. I ended up changing out the springs pads in the rear to #3's. One thing to note is that the #2 pads which I replaced were compressed about 3mm. In anycase this is how she sits today. I think this is about it and will send it to the alignment shop soon.

Looks great! Did you replace the shock as well? And did you install it yourself?

I replaced the shocks with Bilsteins a few months back so this time it was just springs. Yes, I installed them myself and it is pretty easy. To be fair I have two floor jacks, air tools, and the Klann spring compressor.

The Klann spring compressor is an absolute thing to have if you want to play around with your springs, pads etc. It is THE ONLY safe way to play. Too dangerous without.

looks great. Since your car is a 94, is the springs/ suspension any different than a 96 and up? I see that H&R has different part numbers for 94-95, and 96-2000. The reason I am asking is I have a 96 model that was built 10/95, and I don't know what spring to order. Or if the suspension is all the same from 94-2000. Thanks for your help

You have a sharp eye. Yes that is a C36 in the garage. The C280 is the commuter/fun car while I pretty much leave the C36 in it's stock state. No surprise the C280 also has the front brakes off a C36 along with the muffler. I still have to get the camber arms installed as I'm currently running -2.5 degrees camber at the rear.

Can anybody shed any light on my question?

This is what I have gathered through this process as I also have a 96 C36 which was also built in late 95. The difference between the early and late springs is that the early 94-95 springs have one end of the springs flattened while the 96-later cars had a regular uneven spring end. All this means is that there are different spring pads needed. Just to add more into the mix my C36 is a 96 model year and has the early springs. I hate to say you might have to pull one spring out to identify which ones you have.

So if I order the 96-2000 springs I could just use the 96-00 pads and everything should work fine? Thanks for your help.

I believe that is correct. I have a SACHS sport kit for the 96-00 W202 and that is the only difference I could see compared to the H&R set up I have for my 94.
