To access engineering code, you need to have climate control unit in your car. When the key is at position II or when the engine is on, press and hold the "rest" button on your climate control for about 5 seconds. After that, it will display 01 on the left side. The right side is the value of "01".
To decode, here is the information:
01 In-car temperature sensor.
02 Outside temperature sensor.
03 Heater core temp, left.
04 Heater core temp, right.
05 Evaporator temperature sensor.
06 Engine coolant temperature.
07 Regrigerant pressure in bar (e.g. '4' is 4 bar).
08 Refrigerant temperature.
09 Not used.
10 Heater blower control voltage (normal 08-6.0, meaning .8 to 6 volts).
11 Emissions sensor voltage (to detect atmospheric gases and recirculate interior air).
12 Sun sensor voltage (to shift airflow in car).
20 Control current for auxilliary fan (electric fan on radiator, given in milliamps or mA).
21 Engine speed (x100).
22 Road speed (km/h or mph depending on installation).
23 Battery voltage at terminal 58d (as a percentage of total voltage, e.g. 99.0 = 99%).
24 Battery voltage (e.g. 12.8 = 12.8V).
40 Climate control software version.
41 Climate control hardware version.

To go up or down, use the "Auto" button.

This is very helpful. I never use this feature before. I'm gonna try it later.
Thanks mang. :-)

What exactly do these codes tell you? I mean, do they indicate a malfunction? If
so, how do you know what's wrong with that specific function?

Let's say you have suspicion that your alternator is bad. or perhaps the battery. you can observe code 23 and 24 to give more information.

To go up or down you use the -or+ button on the bottom right side. Also there is another test you can do on the unit.

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE READOUT
Entering Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Display Mode
1) Turn ignition on. Press down arrow push button until "LO" is shown in A/C-heater control panel temperature display window.
2) Within 20 seconds, simultaneously press REST and defrost push buttons for more than 2 seconds. The Light Emitting Diode (LED) in the recirculated air push button will blink and the display window will show "di R".3) Press AUTO push button repeatedly, recording each DTC,until all DTCs are displayed. Permanent malfunctions are displayed first. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION tables.
4) If no permanent malfunctions are stored, the display window shows "En d". Press AUTO push button again. Intermittent DTCs will be displayed. Intermittent malfunctions are recognizable by the degree (°) symbol displayed along with the DTC (example: "04 °").
5) If no intermittent malfunctions are stored, the display window shows "En° d". Proceed to ERASING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES.

Erasing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
1) After display window shows "En° d", press AUTO push button once again. Display window should show "dE L" (delete).
2) To erase DTCs, simultaneously press down and up arrow push buttons for more than 5 seconds. The display window should show "- --". If not erasing DTCs, press the AUTO push button. The permanent DTCs will again be displayed. Proceed to EXITING DTC DISPLAY MODE.
Exiting DTC Display Mode
Simultaneously press down and up arrow push buttons until the pre-selected temperature setting of "72 °F" is displayed. Turn ignition off.
