gear box change

Hello and from me,im a new member of this forum.im 17 year old and in one year i will get my license for drive,so i will drive my dads car a c180 esprit 1800cc 122ps 1999 model.I will like to ask you if i can change the manual gear box to an automatic gear box and if there will be any problem after i put it.Thanks for your space,George.

From a manual to an auto.. Forget it, Maybe if you wanted to go auto to manual that CAN be done easily. BUT since you want an auto, you're better off buying a C-class with one already in it. You would need the trans computer which is about $1,500 and it would have to be programed, plus you still need the $3k for the 722.6 5-speed electronic transmission and harness. OR you can always throw in a 722.4 four speed transmission from a 94-96 C-class, Your fuel economy wont be as good though. You would need a drive shaft, gear selector, trans w/t-converter and splice the wiring to the auto trans(722.4)
