So, I received a DDM H4 HID kit 55Watt (with hibeams and lows) in december. My mechanic buddy and I installed it, was working fine for 2 weeks, and a ballast blew, so DDM sent me a new one. Recently, though my passenger side light will randomly shut off, along with the driver side not coming on easily unless the car is OFF.

We looked over the wiring harness, all the grounds on the kit, switched the bulbs/ballasts to opposites sides, but that pesky passenger side still randomly shuts off. SO i took the kit out, called DDM, and they said it is most likely the harness. I'm not sure if you guys know, but the HI/LO harness connects directly to the battery (or Junction Box in my case) uses signal from the left H4 to turn the lights on, but not for power. The way its wired just seems dumb to me.

When they worked, I liked them, but the hassle and the risk of one shutting off is not worth it.

SOO I put the old gross yellow Halogens back in.......and guess what, I can actually see better, no weird beam pattern, and no hot spots. I'm debating on whether I want to throw a new(under warranty) HID set in there or just purchase, from what i've read, the highly regarded NARVA Rangefinder +50 Halogens.

What do you guys think

Any HID retrofit will do this along with big time glare for all oncoming cars. The halogen housings just don't work well with HID retrofit kits.

The glare actually wasn't bad, not once did i get "flashed" or honked at, and I even drove by some of my friends, the HI/LO bulbs have a shield built in, and they move in and out, depending on the beam you want. Works pretty well, better than I expected. Not sure If i'll put them back in or not. Now if i could find Xenon W202 headlight housings for cheap, that would be great.

Maybe I'll get some selective yellow headlights and foglights, If I gotta go halogen again, might as well embrace the yellow!!
