Well, recommended from the factory is Mobil 1 fully synthetic 0W-40. But it depends on your outdoor temp. and how thin you like your oil.
In the example of 0W-40, 0 is the weight, so this oil is thin, provides good protection to many parts in a high performance engine, and the 40 is how hot your environment is. If you race or if it is summer, you may want a 40-50. If it is winter or cool, you want 30.

In your example, you are running a VERY thick oil, for summer, or very high temps. Not exactly normal for a high performance engine in the north.

Wait you mean you have to put oil in these car?

I run 10W - 30 all year round from Castrol GTX synthetic. But, then of course, my car ain't no high performance car, so I run leaded gas!!!

Huge thread on this on mercedesshop.com a few months back. German cars are spec'd for 50 wheight. FYI.... I use 15/50 Mobil One in my C36. My car has 60,000 miles. It always quiets the valvetrain clatter upon startup only within the first few days fresh oil is in there (polymers break down reall fast) then back to the 'ole diesel sound!

J Nolte, to get rid of the almost diesel sound, just step on the gas ;):D
