So ive learned that the OEM Xenon packages came with different housings (internally) dividing the light and keeping the xenon shining through the top portion of the housing. Makes the car look like its having cat eyes! Ive put a xenon package in mine but the housings are for regular bulbs and although looking good, its not as clean as the OEM xenon housings because mine eluminates the whole housing.

Is it worth to get the OEM housings for Xenon?

Last time I checked with the dealer it was $1600 for the pair.(housing only)
worth it? you be the judge of that.

To have clean light without scatter and glare....I say it is worth it.

mbsickness, where did you get yours?

Find a supplier of OEM Bosch parts, I have a part number but they are for RHD headlamps. You will need them to search for the part numbers for LHD headlamps. They are much much cheaper than the stealer.

I have the lights on both the C36 and C280. I sourced both from Bekkers back in 2004. Looks as they don't import them anymore. I have seen the lights come up on Ebay every once in a while. Both cars which received the upgrade had the older housing that uses the H4 bulb and the difference was simply night and day. I also had a 97 C280 which used the later H7 bulbs and the light output was much better and would be a harder case for the upgrade.

I did saw them at bekkers back then. They were selling for $1500.

Perhaps you were only talking about the lights itself and not the headlight housing.

$1500 was for the entire setup of housings, bulbs, ballasts, underlight trim and clear corners. I guess that doesn't seem like too much money now as the housings are $1600 themselves.

not worth it to me. My c230 at the time was only worth $6500. That's 23% of the value of the car.

I think you just stated the reason Bekkers no longer imports these lights. Cost vs the value of the car. For me it was more a safety issue as I have had run ins with deer, possum, etc. and would rather avoid them than hit them and deal with body repair. I also did not want to blind oncoming traffic as the retrofit kits give off significant glare.

If I did come across them, will my existing xenon kit/bulb work perfectly in them or is this strictly for OEM ballast/bulb etc?

They fit the pre-facelift cars. You just have to change the lower trim and the clip for the side marker.

Will do Hvmercy :)

And for the people who are interested, this is how they look. The housings even change the look of the car slightly, the plastic surround inside the headlights is chromed so it makes the headlight look bigger and cleaner versus the halogen with the light yellow plastic surround. The darker and bigger reflector inside the lens also makes the headlight look smoked.

They should fit the pre face lifted models as well because the only difference between the pre-lifted w202 headlights and face lifted models are the internals, H4 in the pre 98 vs. H7 on 98 and above.

Picture of Phillips Ultinon 6000k HID kit in stock housings...they threw off mad glare (did did light up the road better though no doubt) :( and one of them eventually stopped working. I took off the kit and start using halogens again.

Photo of OEM Xenon housings, notice that the lamps are a little darker almost smoked looking due to the reflector inside the housing. Really cool, I'm on the look out for a pair of these too now that my old pair were destroyed in a crash, but I wouldn't be crazy enough to spend $1600 on them from the dealership (that doesn't even include the ballasts!) I found a guy on craigslist selling a pair for $500 + ballast, but his ad disappeared the next day I tried to look it up =(

Good luck in your quest Wichipong!

I think I may have xenon housings on my car... but I can't be sure. Does anyone have part numbers on the different housings?

I don't think these are xenon housings as the description says "Xenon HID upgrade"
