Can anyone recommend me a good caliper upgrade? Something like this?

Brakes off C32. Factory AMG. There is a Thread on this awhile back, including parts, and install. Try a Search, should be able to find it. If not, give me a holler.

R170 SLK32/Crossfire SRT brakes fit also. Cheaper upgrade with similar performance.

can you get them straight from the stealership?

The Crossfire parts? The beautiful part of this is all the parts are aftermarket. The Crossfire SRT is the same as the SLK32. The rotors are available from Centric, as are the calipers. Got the rotors from Tirerack, and the calipers from R1 Concepts via Ebay. I sourced the ceramic pads locally.

The only downside is you have to pay the entire cost of the caliper as you cannot return the cores as they will not match.

You do not get the pretty four-pot calipers, but the performance is similar.

It looks grim..

I talked to some people and they said I'd be better off just buying cheap caliper covers. Lol

Are you going for looks or better braking?

kind of both. I do like the cosmetic upgrade, but i also like the stopping power.

C32 is the way to go. Several Members have done that upgrade.

For both looks and performance nothing beats the C32 calipers and rotors. On my commuter car I went with C36 calipers (also fixed four pot) and rotors. Stopping power is great and although they look better than the stock calipers they don't compare in the look department vs. the C32. In my case it was much cheaper to go with the C36 calipers and rotors cheap if you stick with the 96-97 C36 setup. You will need 17" rims with this setup as well.

I have 17 inch AMG monoblocks. So your advice is to get C36 calipers with rotors? Or can I just get away with calipers?

Other than a junk yard where can you get C32 calipers and rotors?

You will need calipers and matching rotors most definitely. If your car is a 96 and later, you will be all set. If you have a 94 or 95 you will need new wheel hubs. If you can locate a set of C36 calipers for a good price...I would recommend it. Be aware that the 95 C36 calipers are different and require different rotors which are 95 C36 specific and expensive. My swap involved using 96-97 C36 calipers and rotors(partially because I also have a 96 C36 so I could test fit parts).

I been looking at RockAuto.com. They carry alot of mercedes parts but not OEM. They are made by 3rd party. Some parts are OEM though.

I think these calipers will have to wait a while, I will end up spending 700$ on all 4 tires (Caliper w/ rotor). Thats to say if I dont need anything else which I am sure I will (Wiring harness etc...)

I have the C32 brakes on my W202, the same like you've posted in the photo here. There are some people on here that would suggest you split the calipers and rotate the sides left to right so that the larger piston is in its intended order (on the c32 they sit toward the rear of the rotor vs the front) but we didn't split them and they work fine. Stop like crazy compared to stock. I have some photos of the install I can post if I find them.

Thanks alot, if you can find them, I'd appreciate it. Would I just need the Rotors + Calipers? Or will I need additional things? Wiring harness's etc?

you might need a longer brake hose. just get the ss brake lines while ur at it. you also need the brake pad wear sensors from the c32/55, but some brake pad kits come with them. just make sure u ask the dealer if they are or not. if not theyre $8 a piece.

So let me get this right. I have a late 96 c280 sport. All I need is to get c36 calipers and rotors and pads and SS brake lines and I can do this swap?

Basically the hardest part to find is the caliper right since you can order c36 drilled n slotted rotors off eBay? Also the SS brake lines too from eBay

Now are we talking about the rears too? Or does this work for just the fronts?

Yeah I heard that works
