Hey I am Michael from the Netherlands, I bought a c36 two months ago and I really like the car and I think it is worth it to put some money into. I am thinking about changing the exhaust since the m104 amg engine sounds beautiful but a bit to quiet for me. The first company that came into my had was eisenmann they make good and nice sounding systems. Then I found out they don't make a anything for the c36. But i found a solution eisenmann does make a muffler for the w208 clk,and since the w208 has the same fitting spaces as the w202 it should fit. I should get one for the clk430 since it has the same thickness in exhaust pipe. For the reso I was thinking about getting one from supersprint. Unfortunately there are no comapany's that make headers for the c36:mad:. And I am leaving my cats stock because I think it will get to loud whit the eisenmann race muffler and SS reso. This is the sound I am looking for,

You guys have any idea what would be a nice set up for me achieving the sound like in the first two vids. Budget around 1200-1500 euro´s.

And my second question is what exhaust do you have?

greetings from Holland

Michael

hi if you keep stock back box and remove cats you will get the noise your looking for two straight trough pipes

Not legal in my country but i could exchange the sraight pipes for the cats before the dutch MOT (apk).

eisennman does an exhaust for C36 AMG's, I got quoted about 1,600 $ from Eisennman USA.

what a great motor. i wish MBZ still make straight 6's. I would start with a cat-back exhaust, stainless of course, and if that isn't enough then i would replace the cats with high flow units. After running my c230k hard I get a subtle pop on the over run, but to get the amount of crackle that video has you probably need a high flow cat at well as a better muffler, resonator and bigger piping. 2.5inch is good for NA. If you are going to turbo it (as many people have done to the m104 over the years) you may want a 3inch.

one thing I wonder, if you take off the cat on the C36, will you loose torque ? our hp ?

cats are more of a restriction than anything else. I've never heard of a catalytic converter benefiting performance in any way, unless you rate performance by harmful particles coming out of your exhaust, lol!

No, catalytic converters at best don't change your performance and at worst when they are clogged from years of use will rob power. Removing them or replacing them will give you power. The problem of course lies in getting by with emissions tests and not breaking noise laws. The cats go a long way to making the exhaust quieter.

awesome, In Canada, the governement doesn't give a shit about emissions test. How much can it cost to remove my catalytic converter ? or Can I do it myself without breaking my car ?

Cats are welded on, so unless you have your own welding tools, you'll have to take them to a shop. They shouldn't charge more than $80 TOPS to remove your cats and replace them with straight pipes.

Enjoy the noise ;)

but, will I loose low torque by doing that ? Because I want to find a way to liberate more the sound without loosing power. I contacted Eisennman USA and they told me they would custom build an exhaust for my C36 but I'm not sure yet.. (1.600$)

You will gain power and torque if you remove the cats.
