Fix gasket or new engine?

Hello chaps my head gasket is gone and have been told it's a nightmare and have found a engine block for £83. Will it be easer to change engine or muck about with the gasket?

Get quotes for either job. It's hard to predict accurately the total amount you'll spend for either job.

Am gona do them my self have done lots of mk2 golfs engine and gasket but there so easy the merc is a bit new to me and don't wona start something I can't do need to get rolling ASAP

I did the gasket on mine. I'd say the difficulty might be about the same. Perhaps easier, as you're disconnecting/reconnecting FAR less. The cost in perishable parts is less, as well.
