Right, i think i made a thread about this on this forum but cannot be certain as im on a few forums for mercs ^^
Anyway, I'd like a picture or two of your engine bays please! If you had any work done to it? New pipes/hoses, paint, clean up/tidy up? Anything!

I am planning on spending my next couple of pay checks and credit cards on my engine bay. As i feel ive done enough to the car as it is (probably not, but i want to do something different)

This is my bay as it stands. I've taken the rocker cover and the other plastic trims that can be taken out, these will be painted mid blue to go with the 'blue led' theme.

I plan on polishing the engine right up, as you can see there, i've kinda made a start but i ran out of sand paper.
And then replacing any breather hoses and pipes with samco or viper blue silicone hoses. But I want some chrome in there!

A few questions to go with this thread;
The radiator hose, is there a direct fit one from samco do you know?
What other hoses should i look to replace?
Airbox or air filter?

Open to suggestions!

Thanks for reading

Jesse

After dossing around aimlessly today, I decided, what the heck, ill get on it.

Decided also that the rocker and trim will be white.

Also thinking about giving the inside of the bonnet some white too.. Where I could 'sticker bomb' it.

My friends bringing over the good old circular sander in a few minutes, then i'll be getting to work over night on the engine, I've got various grade sand paper so it'll hopefully look spanking new by the end of the job.

Realised that the main pipe to the inlet has an oil breather leading to the engine? What is this exactly? May need a T joint if i were to replace it right?

Ok so, after a birthday dinner with the father and all the presents unwrapped.. I got back to it.

Now after polishing the actual engine cover, I started to dislike it alot.. Yes, its a lot cleaner but in the long run i reckon it will be a pain as an upkeep. So I'd like to ask you guys.. Shall i paint it white? and the middle cover black? or vice versa? Or do i keep it like this?

Paint the spark plug cover white, it will look SO much better IMO.

YEAH i think so too.
A few people from mbclub had suggested i painted the actual cover gun metal to match my wheels and grille. and the spark plug cover white.

Kudos. Cleaning the engine bay is a daunting task.

You should go white with the spark plug cover and gloss black on the rest of the polished area. I painted mine an anodized gray.

SD202, does your spark plug cover stick up a bit at the front by the plastic Mercedes cover?

forgot about this thread.

I may have to do that, i was thinking about blacking it out entirely without the white.

I think the white looks a bit too much. Its a great idea, but maybe another, darker color would look right. I looks like it doesn't fit to me. Maybe a dark gray or a dark blue or something. As long as it fits with the color scheme of your car. You just made me want to paint mine now!
