Hey guys, a few weeks ago I posted questions regarding replacing the Bose system in my 1994 C280. Well I finished my little project and it came out awesome. Just have to Iron out a few rattles here and there from the added power and bass this new system has. Heres the system I put in.

Install Details:
The front components are mounted on their included grills which i used as a mounting plate, as the speakers are too big for the ones most retailers sell, drilled into the door panels and mounted with screws and speed clips. The crossovers are mounted in the front door map pockets, in which I drilled holes to run the wires. The tweeters are surface mounted on the "mirror plates" with the included mounting brackets.

The Rear Deck speakers are mounted in the oem Bose Subwoofer Pods, and the fit perfectly, probably the easiest part of the install.

The subwoofer is mounted in a sealed Sound Ordnance enclosure from crutchfield.com, which was included with the sub. Nice tight bass, Boston Acoustics makes some very nice sounding subs and speakers both for home and mobile applications.

The amplifier mounted on top of sub box in the trunk. I have both the front and back speakers wired in parallel bringing the load down to 2Ohms at the front 2 channels of the amp, therefore drawing 50watts RMS per speaker.
The Sub is run of the back 2 channels bridged drawing 200watts RMS at 4ohms.

My system sounds amazing! crisp, clear, and detailed are how I would describe it. Nice and loud when I want it to be, along with amazing sound quality and great lows, mids, and highs. The speakers love the power.

All in all I spent less than $300 on this (not including the headunit, which i bought in 2006), even though these components should retail for more than double that (most were on sale, speakers were buy a pair get second half off, sub came with free box, ect)! I love Crutchfield! the only thing i didn't order from them was the amplifier.

My home system uses Boston Acoustic speakers powered by a Denon receiver. Shit sounds awesome no matter what you are playing. How much cutting did you have to do for the door speakers?

No sheetmetal cutting at all! Just a little door panel plastic with a dremel. but that was because i mounted the left one slightly lower, (first one I did, lol) Only door modifications was drilling for the screws. I just have to solve some rattles and i'll be 100% satisified (not the speakers, but missing door panel clips, that i broke a while back)

Nice, I've got a few rattles in the car right now. Any tips on what the trouble areas are? I've figured out a big one is the middle brake light has a bad rubber gasket so it hit the windshield when I rev the motor, but I think i have some in the doors as well.

The connectors? I haven't messed with it. All i've done is checked out the rubber gasket.

Rattle Prone areas.

Door Panels
Rear Deck/First Aid Flap
C Pillars
Speaker Grills
3rd Brake Light

Insulating foam goes a long way!

This system was easily transferred to my new C36. Used a dynamat like material this time to solve rattles. Should've went with non Bose speaker mounts in front doors but used my existing brackets I had. Just as awesome sounding and will post up some pics of my custom installed IPod controller ect.

Found it!!! Just went out and tweaked my amp a lil. I have had systems before from 15's down to 10's running multiple amps. And i have to say that the bose speakers seem to be holding up fine for now. I was hoping to replace the bose but after hearing them sound off under some power I'm pretty tickled with the factory 9 speaker set up. The low's just from the 3 ea 6.5's in the rear deck do cause a lil rattle. Soo with this said just got to get my lil amp mounted and secured. And maybe add a 6.5 powered bazooka a lil later. I did run a rca cable off the h/u for the sub while i ran the other rca cables to the rear using the factory plactic wiring trough. Now the ohm ratings for the bose kinda lost me on that. It does sound great. Thanks .

I am looking to install new Bose speaker. How much does it cost or there is some other good option.
