All the sites I remembered don't seem to carry the parts anymore... Even ebay is very shy on those parts. Any places on line you could suggest to get those perch/shims/pads?

did you try your local dealership? They're very cheap and OEM too.

Actually, didn't even think about the dealership, they've opened one up nearby last year... Wichipong - since I don't know what I have on his car as a stock option, I thought a set of #3 (F+R) and possibly #4 for the rear (just in case)...

Before installing my springs I spoke to a mechanic at the Mercedes dealer near my work who had a C43 dropped on H&R's. His suggestion was to get the #5 pad which is the thickest pad for the rear (#3 in my case since I am Pre-1996). I got cheap and figured I would install the springs as is to see the stance and then get different pads as needed. My car came with #2 pads all around. Guess what...I effectively did the spring swap in the rear twice as I ended up using the #4 pad in the rear to get rid of the "squat". When I lower my C36 you can bet I'm getting the thickest pads installed the first time around.

Thank you for the tip, appreciated indeed!
I distinctly remember that squat when we originally lowered my post-96 w202 with Carlsson springs, and I ended up swapping the front pads later to get rid of that look. I'm definitely looking for an even gap look F>R... So suggestion of #3 front and #5 rear - noted, will get those pads. I don't want it too low, if it was my car, I wouldn't mind, but for paps, just a little lower, and even-out the gaps is what I need.

ok so #5 would be the thickest and #1 would be the thinnest i assume, what about running no pads? and also how much does the thickness of each number go up by...ie is a number 1 pad 1cm (1/2") and a number 5pad 5cm (2"). thinking about lowering my 94 c280

What number pads come stock on a 96 c280? I was thinking about just taking off all the pads on my car. You guys think that's a good idea? I wonder how low I'll be on stock suspension

Thanks for the info. You guys were saying I should pick up the pads straight from the dealer right? That's the best option?

dealer charges 20 bucks a pop.... some online u can get it for like 5 bucks... the only difference is you pay shipping... so it is about the same...
if you're getting it straight from the dealership, make sure you tell them the part number...

Since your car is a changeover year I would verify whcih style pad you need as they are not interchangeable. My 96 C36 is still in the old style. The early springs have a flattened end that sitrs in the spring cup so I imagine you could run without pads without much drama. The later style springs are not flattened so running without pads would surely cause damage to the spring cup.
