Hi all,

I was wanting to know, at what stage is it preferable to change my timing chain?

My car has 240000kms and is a c230k.

Are there any tell tale signs that the chain is wearing?

Thanks Again guys...

do you hear any rattling?
chain is only changable if it's getting too much of a slack!
do you use HQ fully synthetic oil?

Hi Kowalski,

I dont seem to hear any rattling, but the motor is somewhat noisy upon start up in the mornings however I do think that, that is normal with the M111 motor.

As for oil, i'm using castrol edge sport...

By getting slack, do you mean a loss of power?this is my second Kompressor and i am the second owner so i just wanted to consider taking some precautions...

Thanks man...

He was talking about the chain becoming slack. Sort of like the chain stretching and becoming longer thus looser or slack. The timing chain is not one of the things that I'd expect to go wrong even at higher milage.
In the w201 there was an automatic chain tensioner. I'm not positive about the w202 but I'd suspect they have one too.
