hey ive been looking at the magnaflow mufflers and a bunch of videos on youtube.. but i cant seem to pick which one i want.. ive been mainly looking at the magnaflow 14815 and the 14816.. im looking for that deep throaty sound.. iv taken off my resonator already.. but buy getting a performance resonator, will that help the sound out with the muffler or not really.. help me out guys

14815. I just got one installed a short while back. Ill try to get you some sound clips since I also have m104 c280

Yeah get a resonator too. I would go 2.5inch cat back at first. it will get a lot louder and you will be able to hear the engine. if that isn't loud enough the next step is to do performance cats as well.

this is mine with everything stock besides the magnaflow muffler. old video

I now have an intake and magnaflow resonator.

Sounds great on the M104.

what kind of magnaflow resonator do u have? is it a high performance one?

that one. im not sure the model number but it is polished stainless steel. very even tone, not too loud, screams when you push it ;)

i believe the muffler i have is the 14830, all the universals will sound the same, just different tips

theres a shot of the muffler being fixed. original pipe was raw steel, lasted about 3 years. re-mounted it with SS, also doesnt stick out as far now

that looks pretty good i must say.. do u know if the race version of the magnaflow mufflers, increase power? i know they are a bit louder..http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=9425

the regular ones are straight through, just like the race versions. The race mufflers have a larger inlet pipe, for higher horsepower cars. Really no benefit on the C280, unless you really like the tips or something. Exhaust is never really a huge performance gain, maybe 10hp average. it just makes for a nicer sound for the most part

On boosted cars running high psi a big exhaust is needed, but on na cars or the c230k with low boost a big exhaust can actually hurt performance. You don't need anything of 2.5inch. Any bigger and people would call you a ricer anyways.

2.5 meaning the inlet or the outlet?

inlet, you want the resonator to be on both, and the inlet on the muffler 2.5. The tips can be as big as you want, the only limit is style.

c280s stock exhaust size is 2.25 If you chop out the resonator i would re pipe with 2.25 from cats to the magnaflow. Will maintain your NEEDED back pressure.

I'm going through the straight pipe on mine and it definitely doesn't sound like a ricer even. It's really deep with those 148 mufflers, scares hondas of all sorts away :)

it's hard to "rice" a straight 6. opened all the way up they tend to sound more F1 than anythign else lol.

2.5, 2.25, or even 3" what is the diffrence in the tubing? Just asking for general knowledge

It will drone badly on the i6. I had one a magnaflow before took it off, it was unbearable.

That's the inside diameter measurement. You should be using stainless steel as it doesn't rust.

Yea I didn't notice Any different on my muffler. Mines not magnaflow tho. I actually found mine on eBay for a 1/4 of the price of magnaflow. I even got to pick up the muffler in Hayward at some performance shop so I didn't have to pay shipping cost. Here's a pic when I first put it on. Just changed the muffler. Stock everything else. Living in ca kinda sucks bc we have smog to pass

Would it be worth it performance wise and sound wise to put an muffler on a non Kompressor C230?

you can chop out everything except the cat in CA and pass smog. The resonator is just for sound dampening and fuel efficiency.
