Is there any other color in the black on a 99 c230k?

it should tell you by the door plate or the info under the hood what your original paint code is...

Black is your standard black. Obsidian black is kinda weird. In some light situations, it can almost look very dark green. In others it looks like a metallic black (sparkle to it, very subtle).

From the 1999 C-Class brochure:
040 is "Black" (a Flat Black as on my C280). I have a note that it is PPG #95084
197 is "Obsidian Black" (as on my C43) is a "Metallic paint, optional at extra cost". I noted that it is PPG #95158
