Looking all over the web for information about this and nothing. Well I'm looking for someone who knows where I can get one without going to stealership. I have a 97 c230. The driver side transponder/transmitter with the red and green light for the keyless is busted. Stealership quoted $575, for parts! That's not including labor and whatever else they decided to throw in the mix! For $575 I can get a top of the line viper alarm and still have enough left over for some stripper money. So do you know of anyone?

You know, the top-of-the-line viper alarms do have a one-mile range and a bunch of extra auxiliary functions you could hook up... pretty cool if you could get it hooked up!

Not worth $575 - too expensive. I lived with mine broken for a year and luckily I was able to locate a C230 with IR door handle being parted out on mbworld. Check out other forums as well. You'll never know
they may have the part you need.

At this point it's tempting to just go for the viper alarm. But I don't know how that will work with the remote start cause we have an ir chip in the key. I'm pretty sure there's a way around just need to figure it out.

it's plug and play.
probably takes about 15 minutes to replace.

I have a pre-facelift 202, and I'm currently doing some research on installing a python (same company as viper) alarm/remote start. I hear the facelift 202s with the smart key are tricky though. Some kind of bypasses are needed to make it work.
