6 months ago i was paying the toll on the Ben Franklin Bridge(Philly) got on the gas to get going, Thump!! and then moving nowhere, after getting a very coordinated push out of the toll lanes by the DRPA (so thats why they have push bars on the cruisers, and leaving my car in Camden for the night) found out I broke a CV. literally snapped in half!!

Mistake...I replaced the broken one, but not the other one.

1 week ago, pulling up my street, drop my friend off, Thump!!!, I said to myself...Fuck I know that sound. Just got out of the car and started pushing it back to my house!

luckily a CV is only $135, and i get my car fixed by my mechanic friends or myself.

What's preventative maintenance again??

That's extremely odd. More than 250k hard-driven miles on my 94 C280 AND 99 C43, and CV's are factory original with no problems. That's quite curious. I have no idea!

Look at it, it's clearly seen a great deal of rust before it snapped. the shiny bit is where it broke, but there is a chunk missing where it has rusted over. Did you drive over something and damage them?

yeah i drive my car fairly hard as well, not sure why it happened, and both in basically the same manner. gave it some gas and a pop noise. shafts broke right through.

zmatt, not that i know of, its a 94 so maybe something over the course of its life. plenty of salted roads though for sure

Nope, but I had a control arm snap at the ball joint once. And yeah, I replaced both at the same time, lol
