Is there anything special you need to do when changing the fluid? I know mercedes says you aren't supposed too change it but with almost 140,000 miles it may be time

Do you even have the dipstick? Lol. Be sure to use Mercedes grade transmission oil. I got mine done at a shop for less than $100, that included a new gasket, filter and oil.

Yeah Mercedes is full of shit. Its a bullet proof tranny, but requires same maintenance as everyone else.
Pour some seafoam in it and drive it a few miles. Will clean up the clutches, springs, and valves. Make sure you use the right fluid. Though what kind escapes me right now.

Any old dexron 3 should suffice.

We need to know the year and model of your car. 722.6 transmissions require specific fluids. The older 722.4 uses a more generic fluid. The 722.5 is another model you may have. I do not have any experience with this particular transmission, so some research would be needed.

Can only use the MB brand fluid with the 722.6 tranny (though some say they've used the cheaper
Valvoline MaxLife brand with good results). It's expensive but not much you can do. My guess is
it'll only take 9 quarts/litres if you also change the fluid in the torque converter. If you just drop the
pan it'll probably take much less.

Check with your local Chrysler dealer. They use that fluid in several models. Tell them you need fluid for the NAG-1. Same gearbox. I have heard it is several dollars a quart cheaper. I use the Valvoline in my new gearbox. No problems yet, but you can see by my gallery thread, I have minimal miles since the swap.

Down the tranny tube? I never used seafoam, do you recommend it for cleaning fuel injectors, tranny and the engine?

I would not run it through the tank if that's what you're asking. Pretty sure it's used as a oil based cleaner (like engine oil or transmission oil). Cleaning your injectors is best left up to your typical injector cleaner you get at the store.
As far as seafoam in trannies I believe you only drive it a short distance. Read the can for more details.

Have to break the little red security clip. Will have to replace it with a new one when you're finished.

There's a small clip in the center of the filler cap that you can pull up. Break it off and pull up the filler cap. Replace. If you buy the Mercedes dipstick tool it does not come with a rubber o-ring to substitute the filler cap.
