Strange Smoke under the Hood

I was on the side of my car, just started it after a cold night(i have problems starting), I saw smoke coming from the right front side of the car, just right under the hood.
There is a kind of exhaust pipe there, blue smoke is coming from there.
I tried to push on the gas pedal, after that it stopped.

ive heard of this before..if i remember correctly its a fuel heater.:)

if its a diesel yeah. most moddern cars have them and they shit people right up if youve only moved the car a couple of frrt then switched it off . the pipe usually comes out by the drivers door on a rhd
