I need help with my car. It's a c200 1997. My engine starts and stall after 2 secs. And then will not start again after 2-3 mins (it will not even crank). I've read through the forums and sounds like its very similar to an OVP relay failure issue. I was happy to read this but when I search one on my car.... mine doesn't have one!! What could cause this problem?

I've check the fuel regulator, check the pressure on my fuel pump, check all the fuse, everything is working fine. I've replace the fuel filter and the crankshaft sensor. The ignition coil is fairly new and I doubt that's causing the problem. I'm clueless.

Please help.

Tune up? Oh.. that might be quite a looong time ago.

Would MAF failure cause the same symptom (i.e. start and stall after 2 sec and no cranking if continued to attempt to start. But only start again after i left it for 2-3 mins)? Because I would have thought that when an MAF goes faulty the engine idle would just go erratic. Where is this O2 sensors located?

i suspect the maf... o2 sensors are usually replaced during tune up

hmm.. ok. Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into that this week. Will update you about it.

In the meantime, if anyone else got any other idea... i am more than happy to hear them.

MIne did this awhile ago, turns out ye fuel filter was not on properly, thus air was being sucked in. Just had to fiddle with it till it connected propery

The car should at least turn over if any one of those things are at fault. Kind of sounds like the security system is acting weird, at least I think it was 97 that they got a more complex security system.
