Car started life as a c180, '97 model. gearbox went into limp mode so i got it cheap. It was the wicking issue and i planned on fixing it and having it as my daily driver while i work on my 190e

Chance would have it on my way home from work i bumped into the owner of a c36, talked about it and he mentioned what he thought he'd get for it (half the price of the market value!!) so i got his number and later called him and bought the car.

So with the c36 as my new daily I wondered what to do with the c180 and at the same time was wondering if working on my 190e was a waste of time because it had recently become unlicenced, when i suddenly received a private msg from a member on another forum asking if I wanted to buy his gearbox because I'd expressed interest in it before, so I replied with the offer to buy his whole engine and gearbox combo (he'd decide to go a different route with his 190e)

so as it stands, plans for the car are

-m104 3.2 Edit 3.0
-getrag gearbox from the 190e-16v (cosworth)
-vortech v-3 centrifugal supercharger
-looking for coilovers/will build my own if cant find any
-replacing all rear link with adjustable links
-looking into sway bars options, don't know if the one's on tirerack will be big enough for what I'm after
-will be looking for w210 e55 amg's (anything merc is rare as fuck down here=$$$$)
-on the lower list of priorities but looking at the Rieger Body Kit
-custom pedal box
-custom front seats
-c36 or c43 brakes
-other shit that i've forgotten

car is to advertise my company, Dearlove Performance, which specialises in Mercedes after market products
It is to be used heavily in track work, hence the coilovers

Am only aiming for about 450hp at the moment because thats all the clutch was built for. Car is still licenced, hence no mention of roll cage yet.

Will post pictures when i go back to my garage

At the moment, I have just received the engine and gearbox and god damm the 'box is so small and light!!!
M111 1.8 engine and gearbox is all but out, just engine mount's and trans drive shaft left to remove.

also with the diff i plan to make a bolt in lsd option for these cars, stay tuned

nice build you got going on there. i would love to follow this build very closely indeed as i have a similar dilemma(lol) with my 201, its a toss between m111 c230k motor or m104. but this lsd option for the 202 sounds very interesting to say the least.

well what are you using the car for? i'd be leaning towards the m111 with a turbo, keep the car nice and balanced

a question for the c280 guys, your front sway bar, does it bend down out of the way of the sump? or is it still straight like the m111's and has a different sump?

Mother of god!

Go for it! I'm very excited to hear the end result!

And c280 sway = straight.

hmm, i wonder where the sump goes? maybe the c280 sump is further back towards the engine? i could just look at my c36 i suppose...

what went wrong? your idea was great.

ps you think I can fit the vortech v-3 centrifugal supercharger on my c36?

Dearlove

just didnt have the time for it, plus the space

well i was considering supercharging my c36. but heard about people blowing the engines because they've been bored out so much by AMG that the cylinder walls are really thin.

I'd still like to do it to my c36 and just run low boost of 5 or so lbs.

but might sell my c36 to buy a house and fund this... dunno yet

this thing may live yet!!!
maybe turbo, not supercharger, we'll see

I've heard great things out of a turbo m104! GO FOR IT. PROGRESS!

If a company out there would start producing a true, full-spec turbo kit for the m104, we'd be in such better shape. You can get some seriously impressive figures from the M104 with the proper kit.

Imagine how much things would change if aftermarket companies made the same kind of hardware for the m104 as they do the 2jz. Can't say the 2 engines would become competitors, but the 2jz is a great indicator of what you can do with a well-engineered straight 6 engine.

difference with the 1/2jz, the RB's and the m104 is that the RB's and JZ's were turbo from factory, so for someone to come up with a 'kit for the merc's it's going to be quite expensive

Still unsure whether to go m113 or turbo 3.0 m104 or now a new direction, 3.0 turbo diesel... I get free diesel you see
