Wow! Not only is this site still around, but it is still active too! Yay! So I posted this on MBworld and got no responses. Maybe you guys have some input? Thanks. Dark & stormy out, wanna use my headlights ;)
Thanks!

Hi all!
Long time, no talk. Had one of my HID headlight blow. Got a replacement on ebay (J87 was the seller) looks legit, Sylvania oem box. Noticed it is a 66250 rather than 66050, not sure that matters. Once installed, noticed that during the auto-leveling stage, one went up, one went down and they stayed that way, not reverting to level. As I was running late, I didn't have time to mess with it and drove it as is. Drove about 1/2 hour with lights on. When turning lights back on after my stop, the same one I just replaced was blown again! Could be just a bad bulb but at minimum $50 for an off brand to $137 at the dealer, don't really feel like trying again. Also, tried disconnecting the battery when I got home to see if it reset the leveling. It didn't. So, before I take it to the stealership (ug ) y'all have any recommendations?
Thanks!

wow, another one of OGs coming back. Welcome once again. :)

I wish I could help you with your car problem. Have you taken it in to an independent shop (Non-stealership) to have 'em look at it.
I've had luck with Allmercedes of Oakland just off 880 fwy - not sure if you're from the bay area.

Just to rule out the bulb, have you placed a "blown" bulb in the working headlight? Since there isn't a filament I. The hid bulbs it could be the side that is out just isn't firing. Based on the opposite leveling I would check the ground for the offending headlight.

Hey, thanks. So you are saying to put the "bad" bulb on the "good' side just to check to make sure it is actually bad? You can tell it's fried just from looking at it. The central round "bulb" portion is milky white rather than being clear.
Thanks. and thanks for your other post too.

I suggested swapping the bulbs just to rule out if the bulb was bad itself or not firing due to something else such as the ballast or igniter. I looked at my spare bulb (low hours) and the center of the bulb is a little opaque or milky as well. I'm leaning towards a ground problem as I think the one thing both the bulb and leveling system share is the ground and when the auto level goes opposite the other light it seems like the polarity is reversed like it would be with a bad ground.

Hmmm, OK, cool, thanks! That sounds reasonable. Not sure if I am up for messing with it at this point. I did send a msg to Den's friend, we'll see what happens. Thanks!

Try checking your fuse. If they're look old then replace them.
And if that did'nt work then it's your igniter or your ballast.
