hey dudes, ive talked to a few of you on stance works and other sites, and basically im just wondering about how many coils i need to cut on a stock c280

this is the look im hoping to achieve.. this photo was taken with no springs installed but this is the desired ride height / clearence as the tires i will be mounting in the rear are 225/35/17

the wheel speck for the rear is 17x10 et20 and 17x8.5 Not sure what the et is on the front...
the rear fenders have been rolled and from the mock up and looks of it , it seems like they will not have any issues...

right now ive cut off 1 3/4 off in the rear and some people are saying its TOO much and some people are saying not enough... but neither of the demographics own a benz... so i decided to have my first post here... Many thanks in advance..

1 3/4 might be a little too much... play around with the spring pads you could get 5mm pads the thinnest ones available.. and maybe 215/40 rear tires would do the trick... you want as much rubbers as you can on those rims...

love the wheels man! But if you want to achieve proper fitment, you're better off buying lowering springs and shocks. That said, I've cut 3/4s of a coil on my lowering springs in the front and I'm happy with how low it is. And changing the spring pads can lower or raise it up to like 3/4s of an inch

MB dealerships. They're only like $10 for a pair and go on top of the spring. I guess this is our "adjustable ride height" haha

2 1/4 seems good enough.. plus they will still settle once tires rotate... if anything ill cut more. but not till i get some rubber.

Grrrrr did the rears, took about 3 tries to get the right height, now need to cut 3 coils off front, No idea how to do the fronts and i dont have spring compressors... anyone know a place with a DIY pikchur thread?

haha the fronts are easy if you have a klann compressor otherwise its almost impossible to get the stock length spring out without dropping the entire control arm. the rears are a piece of cake. one bolt.

can some one school me on front suspension ? basically i need to cut off 3 coils in the front... my question is raised by logic. if the spring compressor compresses 3 inches (almost the same as my 3 coils about to cut, arent the front springs going to go in freely and wobble around ? im having a hard time understanding this. or are my views on the coils measurement of length totally way off?

...i need a spring compressor

If you put your Location in your profile, we can have a clue as to where you are at. You might even have someone nearby that may loan you their compressor. :-)

Here are a couple photos comparing stock and Eibach springs, and one compressed:

the fronts shouldnt be loose. Only my rears are slightly loose when the cars off the ground. Dont worry about it though its not like are going for a dukes of hazard jump.

Did you end up installing the fronts without a compressor? I'm about to install my Eibachs but the only thing holding me back is if the whole dropping the LCA thing works on 202s.

Dropping the LCA works just fine with ONE CAVEAT. if you drop the LCA by disconnecting the upper or lower ball joint, or by removing the upper LCA, you must disconnect the tie rod at the steering knuckle. If you drop the LCA with the steering connected, the pressure from the spring will bend the tie rod near the inner joint. this may not be apparent, but you can check by turning the tie rod while it is disconnected.

I live in Daytona and I'm looking to get my springs cut too. Did you already find someone with a compressor? If so let me know, a friend of mine is saving up to buy a compressor but he's not gonna get it tillJune. I'm looking to do it sooner than that. Pm me
