Intake manifold

hi,

apparently my intake manifold is not working properly, a vacuum hose was off the manifold and appears to be doing nothing, this is what seems to be causing my poor MPG in my c220 cdi (only getting around 26mpg)

Anyone have an idea of what may be wrong and if it is an easy fix (DIY)

Sorry mate, no w202 diesels in the states. I have been suffering around 20mpg in my c280 for years...

We're only supposed to get about 19 combined so that really isn't too bad.
