View Full Version : Are the differential mounts pressed in the subframe?

Looks like my differential mounts are toast and need replacement. I can't seem to find much information on these so I'm hoping someone here has some experience to share. Thanks.

are you talking about the differential mounts or the complete subframe mounts?

There are two differential mounts and four subframe mounts.

I recently replaced the subframe mounts on my 202 and this is how I did it IIRC:

1 - disconnect the drive shaft at the differential end, slightly wiggling it should make it free enough or you can use a rubber hammer after step 3 to make it lose the flex disc.

2 - remove springs and shock absorbers

3 - used a 5 ton jack placed right under the diff to hold the subframe safely

4 - unscrew the subframe mounts

5 - pull the frame down slowly using the jack

6 - move it back out!

you will need to make or buy a puller that should be strong enough to the pull the old mounts out OR you can use a hydraulic press machine if possible. the most bitchy process here is pulling the old mounts out OR if you can do what I did when everything else failed (i didn't try the puller thingy), burn them. :P

the differential mounts IIRC can be change without doing any of the above, those two are at the rear of the diff, covered by two 'cups'. try getting under the car and have a look..
